While there may not seem to be a whole lot of movement in this image, these juvenile Ruffs are very much on the go. Migrating from their area of birth among the wetlands in the north, they stop along the way, spending their days in a foraging frenzy to bulk up before they head to Africa. It´s 30 000 km one way, and yes, their parents left some months ago. Let’s hope their genetical GPS is in order.
